OUR TEAM
Mainlanders was originally co-created by Tasmanian writer, producer and director Jacob Collings, alongside recent Tasmanian import Hannah Brooks, whose own move south was the inspiration for the show.
The project has since evolved under a new creative team, with Hannah Brooks leading as creator, writer and producer, Mick Davies directing and also appearing on screen as the wildly unfiltered Dave Brown, and Bryce Tollard-Williams producing and playing Lewis Callaway. Together, the team has shaped Mainlanders into a sharp, character-driven comedy that balances big laughs with pointed social observation.
To date, Mainlanders has been developed as a three-episode series, with the most recent instalment produced as a standalone short film for Tropfest titled Bloody Mainlanders. The short has been shortlisted for the 2026 Tropfest Festival, marking an exciting milestone for the project and further showcasing the show’s distinctive comedic voice and growing creative momentum.
At its heart, Mainlanders uses humour to explore contemporary Australian life — tackling issues such as housing affordability, education, health, the environment, and the great migration to the regions.
